Poem

I stole a poem from my sister’s blog because I thought it was perfect.
 .

Prophetic Passing

I imagine he’s running to Marjorie now,
Yes, running, not waving his cane.
I see him embracing his father and mother
While they keep repeating his name.

I see him now meeting his forebears,
Brother Brigham and Joseph are there.
Sweet reunion of prophets, united by service
That only such noble men share.

I see him embraced by the Savior
While Father says, “Good and well done.
So faithful in stalwart endurance, I welcome
My noble, most excellent son.”

I then hear the ripples of laughter
As he says the reception’s just fine,
But he hopes that he’ll get an assignment or two
Since there’s no need to waste any time.

I hear his clear voice in the stillness
At the close of this sweet Sabbath day,
Have faith and move forward – there’s work to be done.
President Hinckley would want it that way.

My Mom sent me these pictures this morning. She has been going through some of my grandparents photo albums and found these. I have never seen these pictures before, probably because they were taken by my grandmother (that is my grandfather, in the blue jacket). They appear to be taken on the same day. Maybe my grandparents were taking me on an outing? I am obviously in my grandparents car (they always have had leather seats).

I can definitely see the dominant genes of my father’s family in my face in these pictures. My eyes and face shape are just like my dad.

I remember that outfit I am wearing too. I used to pull or suck on the bow in front. My memory is pretty good considering I was only 2-3 at the time.

You see that wool wall hanging behind my grandpa? At night, when the light was turned off, it looked like a man hung on the wall. I would be so frightened that I would run past that room anytime the lights were out.

My mom must have just sent pictures to my sister too. She has a new picture up on her family blog that I have never seen with some memories from her/our childhood.

Watch out! This might be too racy for some eyes.

My weekend

I had been planning on going up to my parents house for quite a while. But with all the stormy weather we have been having, I wasn’t sure we would make it. The last few days there has been torrential rain which has caused flooding all around the bay area. But when I woke up Saturday morning there was actually a bit of blue sky peeking out! So we hit the road…

Just outside the town where I grew up. As you can see, I truly grew up in the Boondocks. You see the “S” up there painted on the hill… They only do that in the Boondocks.
.
My parents have 3 cows. So, while I was at their house I pretended to be The Pioneer Woman and took a few pictures.
.
.
.
However, I didn’t have it on the right setting (and it isn’t a fancy dancy camera either).
These are friendly cows since my dad pampers them. As soon as they saw me they came to see if I had any treats.
.
.
But had not planned ahead.
So they started getting a little frisky.
.
.
Then my dad called them up to the barn for their vittles and they were happy again.
